DNA Bases Biosensor for miR-21 Detection
This research is intended o design DNA probe that will specifically detect miR-21. The probe then will be immobilized on the surface of electrode as part of electrode functionalization. The electrode then can be used to detect sample containing miR-21 such as in serum or plasma as one of cardiovascular disease marker. the sensitivity and selectivity will be compared to RT qPCR as standard method.
New detection technology is urgently needed to detect prospective disease biomarker such as microRNA (miRNA). Current standard method for miRNA detection is using PCR but this method has limitation such as relatively high cost, low throughput, and not easy to operate. This research is intended to design DNA probe that will specifically detect miR-21 as cardiovascular disease biomarker. We use bioinformatic approach to design the probe. The probe then will be synthesize and immobilized on the surface of electrode as part of electrode functionalization process. The electrode then characterize using atomic force microscopy. The electrode then can be used to detect sample containing miR-21 such as in serum or plasma as one of cardiovascular disease marker. the sensitivity and selectivity will be asses using surface plasmon resonance and the result will be compared to RT qPCR as standard method.
